About Me!
KATE SCHMUCKER
Hi! I’m Kate Schmucker, a senior at the University of Maryland pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Architecture, set to graduate in May 2025. Originally from Connecticut, I came to UMD in 2021 enrolled in the School of Architecture, where I developed my passion for design and architecture.
My love for architecture stems from a lifelong appreciation for art and creativity, combined with a fascination for how things are put together. The balance of artistic expression and technical precision in architecture allows me to merge my creativity with a structured, problem-solving mindset. Over the past four years, I have developed both design-based and technical skills, including hand sketching, drafting, physical modeling, digital 3D modeling, and architectural drawing production.
I am particularly interested in exploring different architectural typologies, from contemporary 21st-century structures to historical buildings. Through the University of Maryland, I was able to study abroad in Italy for a winter semester where I was able to visit iconic and historic architecture. I value the iterative nature of the design process, recognizing that great architecture is never truly finished but constantly evolving. Looking ahead, I plan to continue my education in graduate school and work toward becoming a licensed architect.
This website showcases my journey in architecture—my growth, my inspirations, and my evolving design perspective. I am always seeking opportunities to learn, refine my skills, and push my creative boundaries. Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy exploring my work!
